Bounds on the Diiusion Constant for the Rubinstein-duke Model of Electrophoresis

چکیده
We prove bounds on the diiusion constant for the Rubinstein-Duke-model by means of a variational formula. The leading term decreases quadratically with the length of the polymer chain. The coeecient of proportionality agrees with the one for the model with periodic boundary conditions. The next leading term is anomalous. Upper and lower bounds on the corresponding scaling exponent are given.

Diffusion in a generalized Rubinstein-Duke model of electrophoresis with kinematic disorder.
Using a generalized Rubinstein-Duke model, we prove rigorously that kinematic disorder leaves the prediction of the standard reptation theory for the scaling of the diffusion constant in the limit for long polymer chains D proportional to L(-2) unaffected. Based on an analytical calculation as well as on Monte Carlo simulations, we predict kinematic disorder to affect the center-of-mass diffusi...
متن کاملExperimental Realizations of Integrable Reaction-Diffusion Processes in Biological and Chemical Systems
Stochastic reaction-diffusion processes may be presented in terms of integrable quantum chains and can be used to describe various biological and chemical systems. Exploiting the integrability of the models one finds in some cases good agreement between experimental and exact theoretical data. This is shown for the Rubinstein-Duke model for gel-electrophoresis of DNA, the asymmetric exclusion p...
متن کاملGel Electrophoresis of Dna — New Measurements and the Repton Model at High Fields
New experimental data are presented on the gel electrophoresis of DNA. Experiment was made for molecules of length 173 kbp, in 1 percent agarose gel, in TAE 1× buffer and the field intensity between 5 and 9V/cm. The results are compared with our computer simulations, performed within the repton model of Duke and Rubinstein. The ranges of field and molecule length are determined, where the geome...
متن کاملDiiusion Constant for the Repton Model of Gel Electrophoresis
The repton model is a simple model of the \reptation" motion by which DNA diiuses through a gel during electrophoresis. In this paper we show that the model can be mapped onto a system consisting of two types of particles with hard-sphere interactions diiusing on a one-dimensional lattice. Using this mapping we formulate an eecient Monte Carlo algorithm for the model which allows us to simulate...
متن کاملImpacts of Premium Bounds on the Operation of Put Option and Day-ahead Electricity Markets
In this paper, the impacts of premium bounds of put option contracts on the operation of put option and day-ahead electricity markets are studied. To this end, first a comprehensive equilibrium model for a joint put option and day-ahead markets is presented. Interaction between put option and day-ahead markets, uncertainty in fuel price, impact of premium bounds, and elasticity of con...
